Photos from Filming of Ciaran Foy's "Citadel"

Production is nearing an end on Sigma Film's newest effort CITADEL and luckily today we have some new photos to show you.

First, many thanks to Blinder Films who have released in glorious high res the photo we saw here earlier of star Aneurin Barnard in his role as Tommy for the new joint Sigma/Blinder Films production "Citadel." Excellent!

Then, again via the personal blog of DoP Tim Fleming we can see some additional and very dramatic shots of Aneurin Barnard from the film, from scenes that take place in the mysterious tunnel and facing those demon child hunters that threaten the main character. Top notch work; this film just looks to be fantastic, can't wait!

Finally, thanks as always to the hard working fantastic crew, Mr Fleming has also posted a pic of what seems to be the camera crew. Prop man Paul Lambie also has tweeted quite a bit during the production (including some great twitter photos you gotta check out yourself here), and noted they are currently over in Dublin for a few days on the film as well.

Citadel is due for release next year.

Filming Through the Snow: "Citadel" on Location Video, More

While news has um frozen to a slow Icetrickle due to the tundra that has descended upon seemingly most of us in the northern part of the world lol, the hearty folk at Sigma Films continue on with filming for Ciaran Foy's "Citadel." Note that even Colin Kennedy has taken to sporting a staypuff production man look for the inclement weather lol LOVE HIm!. Weather is dreadful to be certain yet things progress onward even so as noted by and many thanks to crew member extraordinaire and props man Paul Lambie, we can now see some video he shot of the frozen location below:

Paul also tweets his harrowing adventures this past week, on location in various places like a Yokerhill hospital or a hilltop cemetery in Glasgow or and noted that even star James Cosmo got stuck in the snow (just like so so many of us all around the world it seems lol) Be sure to follow Paul here for more! You can also see some very cool location photos (mostly pre-blizzard bomb photos lol altho a few more recent) on the personal blog of the superb cameraman Tim Fleming who is shooting Citadel. good stuff indeed! Citadel continues through snow wind rain and hail for a few more weeks yet before off to Dublin and wrapping later this month.

New Video: Ewan McGregor, Eva Green Close Up Filming a Scene from "The Last Word"

UPDATE: Just been told they are filming all week (until the 16th) on Hyndland Street (pic here on flickr) & Rd as well as Lawrence St & Caird

Well I have a feeling this wont last long, so go quick! Three very very brief clips (rehearsals here and here, with the scene below) of Ewan McGregor and Eva Green filming a scene near Kelvingrove Park from David Mackenzie's The Last Word. As seen below, you can see the crew from Sigma, then the camera pans over as Ewan leaps out of the green car (sporting that mask) yanks his bike out the back and Eva out of the car slams door shut, then they walk into some sort of building NO DIALOGUE is heard, but still very thrilling. Each clip is very very short, but still WOOT thank you Claire!

Sunday in the Park with Ewan McGregor and Eva Green for "Last Word"

Check it out! Sunday in the Park with Ewan McGregor and Eva Green.... As seen directly on the Style Scanner blog, Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow, Scotland was the setting for a leisurely bike ride for the stars of David Mackenzie's new film...along with BIKE CAM lol I LOVE THIS............>
For more, please check Style Scanner blog, as the photos are theirs, enjoy!

Also, thanks much to ever vigilant EvaGreen web, you can see some additional high res pics of Eva, plus a couple pics of the duo in a car, wearing masks. No idea where they obtained their photos (no sources given) or where the car scene was shot, but check out more in their galleries.
Esp the one where you can clearly see the mike and camera and the crew guys on that special bike, cool :)

UPDATE: You can also see this brief article from the Sunday Herald online (print copy had a few more pics) that showed a couple of extras in a scene where they are fighting over food or something in the streets. The paper noted:

Survivors seemed to be battling for last scraps of food with a wheelie bin overturned and debris strewn across Blythswood Street.

Fists were drawn as two actors fought one another on the ground. It drew a few onlookers as the camera crew captured the latest scenes for the film The Last Word. Police officers were brought in to help with traffic flow as city centre streets were affected by the filming yesterday morning.

But it left a few early-morning motorists somewhat irate, and horns were sounded when they were held up as a camera crew on a trailer headed along Bothwell Street.Officers were trying to keep the streets clear while a car sped along.

First Look: Extras from Eagle of the Ninth (Updated)

As noted before, filming is well underway now in Scotland for Kevin MacDonald's "The Eagle of the Ninth" starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell. We now have our first look of the Pics and warriors played by extras which had been cast recently for the film. Taken on location waiting for filming to start, this is a fierce lot indeed (even with the headphones lol LOVE IT) all sporting their shaved heads and costumes made of "sackcloth, fur and leather." As noted here several times previously, location filming is due in the Achiltibuie region, with some of the locations to include Achilitbuie, Glen Sloy, and Fox Point. UPDATE: Thanks ever so much to Toby again, who updated his blog-CHECK IT OUT HERE- with more photos and a bit more on the filming progress, including overcoming horrible weather and all. He writes too on the stars of the film: "They've kept at it though and I was impressed at the professionalism of the crew and the fact that everyone seemed willing to muck in and help when things got tough. The stars of the film (Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell) had no airs and graces about them and were more than happy to mingle with the extras - they also signed my daughter's book so she went home very happy!"

Production on this new movie is based out Film City Glasgow (home to Sigma films :) Thanks so much to Toby for this photo (please note that is his photo and all credit rights belong to him; more including his beautiful daughter who is an extra can be found here)

More Location Filming for Eva Green and Ewan McGregor in "The Last Word'

Production continues this fall week in Glasgow, Scotland for David Mackenzie's "The Last Word."
First, be sure to check out my updated Master List of Cast/Crew for Last Word (more uptodate than IMDB I assure you)

UPDATE: Check out the books that Chef Ewan will be using...from Oxfamglasgow, GREAT CAUSE GREAT JOB SIGMA! kudos for this!

"Yes, a chunk of our own cookery stock has passed audition and will star in David Mackenzie’s “Last Word”. None of the books were available for comment at the time of writing (they’re in a box en route to the set) but a source close to the books (me, like) said they were ecstatic and looking forward to the experience. They will return to their day job here next weekend, to raise money and find a new home."

Next, thanks to good ole The Sun and Mr. Paparazzi, there are more new photos from filming now online. While already in gorgeous high res over at the awesome EwanMcGregor.net and here in the galleries of Evagreenweb.com, the Sun published a typical goofball story today with the headline heralding
"I'm Cordon Ew" good lord...
and features a photo of Ewan McGregor in his chef's attire ...lmao-beats my cookin up a storm headline by far hahaha err or maybe not :P

As only the Sun could do...quotage..."

MOVIE hunk Ewan McGregor dons a chef's outfit to eye up his dish of the day - tasty co-star Eva Green.Star Wars heart-throb Ewan, 38, and Bond girl Eva, 29, were filming The Last Word on location in Glasgow yesterday.

One onlooker said: "You could say Eva looked delicious!" Meanwhile, the Scots actor has told how he was attacked by a GHOST on his 20th birthday. He said the spook left a huge burn mark on his dressing gown as he ran a bath in a shared house. Ewan added: "I was so freaked-out I left."

HAHAHAHA yea ok I wanna be drunk and write stories for the Sun yea

Woot more great news today as there is a new report from filming of David Mackenzie's The Last Word. The PA reports stars Ewan McGregor and the lovely Eva Green were on location today in Glasgow, Scotland as the crew "was on the banks of the River Clyde...Dressed in a dark polo neck jumper and grey jacket, the Perth-born 38-year-old was seen sharing a joke with former Bond girl Green. The pair were also pictured sheltering from the Scottish rain under a large umbrella." Update More via this blog, thanks, plus AP!

Sigma Films and David Mackenzie are hard at work on Last Word, based out Film City Glasgow.

(Updated w/More pics) Streets of Destruction: Report from Making of Last Word with Ewan McGregor and Eva Green

Movie -making is a messy business! Not only all the complicated financial dealings, juggling of weather, schedules, equipment (even egos lol) but phew Sigma Films are now causing havoc in the streets of Glasgow, Scotland ;0

Well not really, as the street of destruction as it were is part of scenes needed for David Mackenzie's Last Word starring Ewan McGregor and Eva Green. The Glasgow Evening times reports (with a wee photo) of the scene on Dalhouise Street on Saturday night as "Dalhousie Street in Garnethill was transformed into a debris-strewn neighbourhood for its part in apocalyptic love story The Last Word." The piece also says "The scenes, which feature a wandering horse, appear alongside part of a dramatic car chase. The film tells how two people fall in love as the world it gripped by a pandemic in which Scotland is sealed off from the rest of the world."

UPDATE: Check it out, via Werewegian on Flickr (they are his pics!) I spy Colin in the midst of that too lol AWESOME I CANT WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE!

I also heard they were at the Glasgow school of art filming AS ALWAYS ANY TIPS photos certainly are welcome and will gladly post.

Filming is set to continue for a few more weeks on Last Word. LW is being produced by Sigma's own Gillian Berrie, and is of course directed by the acclaimed David Mackenzie (also co-founder of Sigma films) Movie is based out of FILM CITY GLASGOW which will then quickly turn from home of post-apocalypse lovers to lost Roman legions as Kevin MacDonald and crew will move in for October-busy times indeed!

New Photo of Jamie Sives from Valhalla Rising

Reminder: Tomorrow, New Town Killers screens at the Dublin Film Fest. No idea if Alastair will be there (doubtful but hope is eternal). Also screening tomorrow at both the Dublin fest and Glasgow Film Festival is Last Chance Harvey. Now NO this is not in any way shape or form a Sigma film related thing, however my fave actor Jamie Sives apparently has a bit part in the film. I do not know if he made the cut , or even better lol will be at any of the screenings, but there you go.

Speaking of the smokin' Mr Sives, new photos and a short report from the filming of Valhalla Rising made their way online last week. Jamie Sives stars in this new film along side his former Wilbur co-star Mads Mikkelsen, and VH was filmed in Scotland, with many Scottish crew and FCGlasgow used as the base for the new Nicholas Refn film. Fangoria has this short article, with new photos of Mads, Nic Refn and of course JAMIE, with quotage of interest as follows:

“I’m used to Nicolas’ working methods by now,” says Mads Mikkelsen, whose turns in the first two PUSHERs led him to the lead villain’s role in CASINO ROYALE, and who plays VALHALLA’s One Eye (second photo). “Although quite how my fellow cast members [including Jamie Sives, Gary Lewis and Gordon Brown] coped, I have no idea. But most of them seemed intrigued by being included in the directing process to an unprecedented degree. Nothing about Nicolas is standard, and that’s what makes him so special. He had this crazy idea to make a Viking movie, despite hating Viking movies. He wanted it filled with gory horror and science-fiction imagery so it would be completely different from anything else out there. He wanted me to play a mute God metaphor. And it’s being filmed mainly in slow-motion!

I've also uploaded some high res versions of a couple of the pics on my flickr, notably of Mads here. While I was surfing around on flickr, I saw an extra on the film has uploaded some cool behind the scenes of a VH shoot in the Highlands. What is really cool is to see this shot from user Thom C of this now famous pic of Mads. Quite a difference what goes on behind the scenes and what the audience sees on the big screen. man I LOVE FILMS and while its all old stuff and nothing new to anyone whose ever made a film, for fans its always cool to see stuff like this, and I for one remain entirely appreciative they release these things and others like mr C upload them for us to enjoy! Cheers!

At last word, Valhalla Rising is set for release in August, 2009. For more on
Mads Mikkelsen and Valhalla Rising

Smile! Your Teeth are Missing!

AGGG THE BLOODY ROOSTER HAS RETURNED! NOOOOOOOO!

*ahem* Pardon that temporary rambling LOL as the header of the official Sigma Blog has been taken over by the dread red rooster pic again. lol. And YES, I am sole person I predict that pays attention to completely insignificant things like this but there you go ;P

Right, speaking of pics, I've made it my mission to continue the dialogue on Colin Kennedy's I Love Luci for as long as I can (and it gets to screen at say Cannes or somewhere awesome, which it totally will cause I believe.)

Thus, in effort to do so, there are currently some FABULOUS set photos and making-of pics on the Facebook group for Luci (join join join!) As it's holiday time and there is lots of picture taking afoot, which requires lots of smiling, there is a great photo of the lead actress in Luci, Camilla Rutherford, smiling....and showing her missing teeth. :D

Now as we know Camilla is a lovely beautiful actress in 'real' life, and normally would not look like this naturally. I remember writing earlier this year about teeth lol, after Colin talked about a quest he had for special teeth via his official I Love Luci blog. He did not give too much away then, only mentioning a need for false teeth, plus one of the location scouting photos was of someplace relating to those pearly chompers. Coupled with the summary floating about of the film, Now NOW we can see how all of this has come into play. Smile :D

Btw the current article on the I Love Luci blog is about a possible sorta well not really mention of Luci in the press (well, there entire lack of mention of the name of the film MEH... FAIL TELEGRAPH) This example of inaccuracy on Camilla's role, while not life altering of course, makes me sad again for the blunders my profession can make and does make all the time. My thesis for my Doctorate is about sourcing in journalism and ties into crap reporting like that. alas.

ps I believe the above photo is courtesy of Nicole Stafford who is the makeup artist for the film I think. Man, I need a crew list or should make one here or something! Oohh a light bulb is going off in my dim fangirls head...

A Look at Luci: From Stills to Screen

Holiday treats abound for sure, as there is a new update that filming is complete on Luci! CONGRATULATIONS COLIN AND CO!
Bonus tho is word there are some great new stills from the production of Colin Kennedy's I Love Luci online today! Colin started an I Love Luci group on the ever awesome Facebook (it's open to all, dont be shy, I joined lol shock i know, so check it out!) There, you can see the first photos from the shoot!

Yay! I was really happy to see that today,
including this wonderful photo of Colin directing his stars, as well as
the one from DoP Derrick Peters
who shot a very cool pic of Colin and crew with a closeup-LOVE
LOVE LOVE THESE! :)))))

As such (Please dont be pissed at me Colin oy! BUT I HAVE TO WRITE ABOUT THIS) there is something very cool that caught my eye.

Along with our first look at the leads Camilla Rutherford and Colin Harris and Wilson/Luci in action lol, the part that honestly appealled to me was how you can compare the prep work to a scene in production for the film. In addition to writing a screenplay, the part that truly fascinates me the most is locations used in films, and I'm honest to god thinking of chucking all this news stuff to the retirement bin and looking into this part of the film industry and learn more about it. Anyway, Colin had posted up on flickr some great early location scouting pics of locales he was thinking of using for this short film, I Love Luci. So here is what is cool-we can now see how they've taken these and are filming there. Witness:
Fight scene scouting pic from Colin Kennedy:
To the production stills by Pete Murphy for the I Love Luci group photos with Colin Harris, Camilla Rutherford filming a scene under the direction of Colin.
Now to a dorkette like me I think this is hugely cool, and yea totally I realise that this type of posting is purely twee fangirl drivel, but frankly too, tis a good example of how a location can work within a scene. I do a lot of archaeology as a hobby, and my favorite part is the reconstruction-what did the inhabitants do think act. I like this part of location- what can you do with a scene, how will it work as a backdrop, will it enhance help convey the proper environment attitude emotion of the moment. So too do I wonder what is going on here- look at the urgency on their faces, what is amiss etc? I LOVE THIS type of stuff! yes!

So right, be sure to follow the getyourpeople/iloveluci blog for more pics including some cool ones of Sigmas own Brian Coffey (producer on Luci), updates from Colin and more, and while you are at it, check out the facebook groups for Friends of Sigma Films and now I love luci, plus I think FilmCityGlasgow pretty cool too!
Rock on Luci! :))

Shopping David Mackenzie's Spread

Because I am made of all kinds of fangirl fail, I caved and had to check to see what was happening with the progress of David Mackenzie's Spread. To no surprise (and frankly great joy) there were not only new tabloidy set photos X17online, but these photos involved a scene where they go SHOPPING.

Filming apparently took place a couple days ago on the very hip Robertson Blvd in LA, a place I actually know. In these photos you can clearly see Anne Heche filming with actor Ashton Kutcher, carrying a slew of shopping bags from these stores. On this road (major haven for press seeking celebs and major papparazi lurking land), there are loads of chic trendy shops, including a few I know such as Kitson, Citizens of Humanity. While my dull wardrobe staples are basics from BananaRepublic/Ralph Lauren/DKNY/Gap even I cautiously branch out once in a while to wear something (sorta) hip, and know this Lisa Kline, though I've not shopped there before.

Now clearly product placement is an issue/monetary bonus for the film industry anymore, but I wasnt sure to what extent David has done this in his previous films with Sigma (aside from say various cars and the locales they filmed in for say Hallam Foe) I mean, Anne and Ashton flash those bags around big time and I figure this was totally deliberate, and not just indicative/in keeping with the trendy frivolous nature of the character. Even more evidence of this is in VIDEO and lots of it from Hollywood Bubble, of them shooting this scene over and over (Bonus: at the end, David is there :) and joking about with his star) Ps---------->
Anne is wearing some killer shoes!

Side note: What precisely is the deal with Ashton and his leaping about over the car??? I swear this is like the third or fourth filming pic I've seen where he goes skipping gleefully around the edge of the car. Unless you are say Cary Grant, it has been my experience that most men do NOT leap over the edge of the car, especially after a day of what is long (and expensive due to all those bags) day of shopping-run for freedom yes lol, leap merrily, NO. :)

Off the Deep End!

With the weather continuing to be horrible here at least (no sign that spring may actually arrive anytime soon le woe) I rather appreciated seeing the latest photos from the set of Spread surfaced online today, as its proof there is better weather someplace lol (and I need to seriously think whether flying to Scotland is the wise choice when I could zip off to the islands where there is NO SNOW)

Off in glorious and warm LA, David Mackenzie (or maybe this is the type of stuff the second unit does? dunno hmmm) was filming on location scenes at a sunny pool location, where the star of Spread, Ashton Kutcher, was going off the deep end...well probably just the middle of the pool, but boy does that water look nice! Gossip sites Popsugar, PacificCoastNews and the ever on the spot JustJared were quick of course, to post a slew of pics of our hero trumpeting 'he's shirtless zomg!!!!' but they also managed to include some pics that show a few pieces of equipment they use on set.

Here is a scene en progress-not sure what that is beside the camera, maybe a mic or a still camera or something?

Anyway, the difference a few years makes couldn't be more striking because it was almost this time several years now wow, when they were filming off in the cold loch for Hallam Foe. I distinctly remember Colin blogging on his HallamFoe blog (getyourpeople.com) several times about that shoot, and a later re-shoot as well as filming at the tanks at Pinewood Studio. Water scenes always seem to me to be so complicated, and so incredibly easy to botch up that I always appreciate when the mechanics of these scenes are explained. I am sure the scene at the 'black lagoon' was hard, for even Jamie Bell wrote about it in ElleUK when said "I have to do several scenes that require me to jump into the loch which isnt very funny. It's bloody freezing and not flattering for the old manhood in any way. It's so cold I find it impossible to stay in for more than five seconds at a time. The director is shouting 'Stay In!,' but my brain is saying "Out out out!" The scene was pivotal of course for the movie, and Im so glad he was able to make it through those (and Claire of course) because as beautiful as this loch is, no way would I want to take a dip in there!

Regardless, the case in point here is: the two scenes couldnt be more different, and I'm certain David is appreciating the difference in filming. ....Though gotta say, as wonderful as water sports and the guys are, its hard to determine which is the better errrm catch from the water by these pics ;) heee !
