Jamie Sives Fans! Pre-Order Game of Thrones DVD

Season two on HBO's acclaimed hit series Game of Thrones begins filming today in Northern Ireland, featuring a number of Scottish cast. Some familiar names to be see in S2 (based on the Clash of Kings book by George RR Martin) include frequent Sigma star James Cosmo (Old Bear) and Kate Dickie (Lysa Arryn) Also returning of note will be Richie Madden as Robb Stark (who will have an EXCELLENT season trust me if you've not yet read the book, its a good one for Robb), along with an excellent Iain Glen as Ser Jorah, Ron Donachie, Rory McCann (so creepy great as the Hound) and I believe Natalia Tena (You Instead) is definitely doing more on her great turn as Osha-rock! Missing of course will be our beloved Jamie Sives as Jory -boooo. We loved you so much, such a great job as Jory!
Fear not however, as we will be able to relive that incredible first season as pre-orders for Game of Thrones DVD Season One are now available in the US via Amazon: DVD ($45.00 USD) Blu-Ray (55 USD)
UK pre-order can be found at the HBO shop, with more retailers to follow in short order. No release date is yet given (that will change soon to be certain). I also believe HBO is set to release their 2012 calendar which will feature many scenes from the series; will update this post once that becomes available online.
While I will greatly miss Jamie in this series, posts here on the show WILL CONTINUE given the great interest in the Scottish actors, including in those actors near and dear to Sigma film fans, stay tuned!
Game of Thrones will air next spring in the US on HBO and in the UK on Sky Atlantic

Al Plays Guitar

Al, he plays guitar....

Last August, we were treated to brief footage of Sigma's own Alastair Mackenzie in his new role as Monty in Todd Tucker's family 'horror' film Monster Mutt. As noted here several times (most recently last month) the film is coming out on DVD on January 4, and the company has released a new music video to help in this endeavor. In the new video, at around the 1:33 mark, we see a familar face, in his spiffy wig and robe and all, enjoying a late night rock band session, where Al plays guitar :D wheee! I LOVE YOU AL! Enjoy!

Now Available: Pre-Orders for "Monster Mutt" DVD with Alastair Mackenzie

As reported here many times previously, Sigma's own Alastair Mackenzie is a featured actor in the family film "Monster Mutt" from director Todd Tucker. That film, which screened recently at the London Children's Film Festival, is as we already know, being released on DVD in the US on January 4, 2011. Pre-orders for what seems to be a Walmart exclusive DVD can now be found at this link! Rated PG, this is a fun "horror" film about a dog, an experiment gone awry, and a cranky fussy neighbor played by our own Al (who sports some hilarious hair and white flip flops to boot lol) Go Al Go! :)

Jamie Sives: "Triage" Renamed "Shell Shock" for UK DVD Release

Good news for UK Jamie Sives fans! While there appears to be no theatrical release imminent, the UK will be seeing Danis Tanovic's "Triage" in the near future. Now renamed "Shell Shock" (with an 18 rating) the film will be released in the UK on DVD February 28, 2011 with pre-orders now available at Play.com and Amazon.co.uk.

If you've not yet had the chance (or ordered the DVD from the UK or elsewhere -its out now in many countries, recently France and in Germany next year too), I do recommend it, esp for the bonus INTERVIEW with Jamie (which I'd upload but know sure as shooting it'd get removed. HES SOOO gracious tho about his co-stars, esp Colin, and a bit funny too. Plus he looks so very handsome in his sunglasses (and makes a funny comment too but I dont want to spoil it for yall)

Jamie Sives Update: Triage DVD Cover Art and He's Staying Alive!

June means a Jamie Sives update is here :) Today, we can see the official artwork for the "Triage" DVD starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Sives. Smaller versions are now online at Amazon.com, but thanks indeed to a kind soul on my flickr, we can see this high res scan of the sell sheet which includes not only better look at the cover, but also CONFIRMS INTERVIEWS, DELETED SCENES and a Behind-the-scenes feature on the film. Excellent news! As reported here earlier, the Triage DVD will be released in the US on August 10th.
We can hope to see ads for this in EW, TV Guide, US Weekly, FX on TNT and TBS and USANetwork, FB more. Stay tuned. Finally, be sure to read a bit of the press material from Jamie Sives --------------->

Speaking of Jamie, I know I have been well remiss in posting this, but I LOVE this cute promo for "It's a Wonderful Afterlife" where Jamie is just cracking up :) No word yet on that DVD release but note that the Clash of the Titans DVD w/Jamie and Mads Mikkelsen is out July 26 in UK, July 27 US as well.

David Mackenzie's "Spread" Now Available on DVD in UK

As promised, the UK can now purchase David Mackenzie's "Spread" starring Ashton Kutcher released today on DVD and Blu-Ray. You can also download the film on UK iTunes as well. I do not believe there is a director's commentary alas, so instead we David fans can enjoy some b-roll of the man at work here.

Also out today on Blu-Ray and DVD in the UK is "Valhalla Rising," featuring Jamie Sives. As noted here, "The extras are slightly more than a commentary, by the way - there is also a 23-minute making of, which is a press-kit interview with Refn intercut with an on-set video diary by a slightly irritating director's assistant." Personally, I quite enjoyed the entire making of feature from Digital Guerillas, and you can watch all 20 something vlogs of the film at this link for free.

Im sorry but thats just a joke, please a kill bill rip off w/bravehart's sword, there is NO swarm of 300 type gladiators in this kill gah. embarrassing. Anyway, it would seem we are only getting "insightful audio commentary with director Nicolas Winding Refn and journalist Alan Jones" which is good of course, but woe no deleted scenes or cast interviews; will try and verify that if possible.

Pre-Orders for Murdoch Mysteries with Alastair Mackenzie

I received several mails of late regarding Sigma's co-founder and notable actor Alastair Mackenzie. First, I want to extend my appreciation to the lovely note sent regarding coverage Al and in his recent UK stage appearance in The Priory. Thrilled the play did as well as it has with all the many nominations and all; most of all very glad people were able to see him -jealous I am too!

Others have asked about what he is doing next. Unfortunately, I don't have much to report on for the moment save heads up gorgous photo has been released on his IMDB page and pre-orders are available (US Amazon here, UK Amazon here) for Murdoch Mysteries Season Two DVD. According to this recent report this will be out May 4 in the US, but the UK one says next week (lucky if true!)Quotage: "Acorn also filled us in on some further details about this 4-disc set. It will contain 13 episodes running 598 minutes, which are presented in anamorphic widescreen video. Sound will be in English stereo, and it will be accompanied by English subtitles as well. Bonus material consists of a Behind-the-Scenes Featurette on the first disc, and on the fourth disc you'll find Character Bios, Cast Filmographies, and a Photo Gallery. We already passed along that the list price will be $59.99 SRP in the USA, but Acorn also informs us that the cost in Canada will be CA$74.99 SRP (for fans north of the border)" As a reminder too, the Mentalist will be released on DVD in the UK next month (already available here in the US); a clip of Al starring in the episode 'Russet Potatoes' can be seen here.

No word yet on what is happening with Monster Mutt, and we all remain hopeful that the Last Word will be sold and eventually shown in theatres for us in the UK/US.

Followup: More on New Town Killers DVD Due October 19th

A few weeks ago I posted this news regarding the October 19th DVD release date set for Richard Jobson's New Town Killers, which of course stars Dougray Scott, and Sigmas own Alastair Mackenzie. You could also pre-order from Play.com
DVD Times has more now on the DVD this week, confirming there will indeed be a directors commentary, as well as "Behind the Scenes: ‘New Town Killers – the story’ " You can also pre-order the standard edition and the Blu-Ray from Amazon.co.uk (which I do all the time, shipping is not too bad to the states), as well as from Borders, with fans in Australia also able to pre-order here. The Amazon descript reads as follows:

Product Description
Cat & mouse thriller tells the story of two bankers who offer Sean the chance to clear his sister s debt on the condition that he can hide from them for 12 hours on the streets of Edinburgh. Sean accepts the offer and soon realises it s a tragic game of life and death that the bankers will stop at nothing to win.

Synopsis
With a premise that suggests an early 21st century variation on David Fincher's paranoia classic THE GAME (1997), NEW TOWN KILLERS stars Dougray Scott as Alistair, a slimy, icewater-veined financier who gets his kicks and thrills by targeting human prey. His modus operandi involves bringing in an innocent young candidate for a new job, Jamie Stewart (Alastair Mackenzie) and demanding as a prerequisite that the two play a mysterious game together. They must find a down-and-outer and challenge him to escape from their clutches over the course of one long and fateful night. The "prey" on this occasion is Sean McDonald (James Anthony Pearson), an inner-city teen with a serious problem on his hands: his pregnant sister risks being killed by the thugs to whom she owes gambling money. Alistair informs the young man that if he manages to evade them in their chase, he will receive enough money to clear off the towering gambling debts of his pregnant sister; if he loses, he will be killed. Out of concern for his sister, Sean agrees to the contest, though victory seems impossible for two major reasons: first, the crafty Alistair has closed all major exit routes from the city without informing Sean of this, and second, Alistair secretly plants a tracking device on Sean that the young man isn't aware of.

IGN Mentions Mister (Hallam) Foe DVD

IGN, one of the big game/movie/dvd sites out there (and one of the most reliable) has a small mention of the upcoming Mister Foe DVD that is due to be released finally here in the US on November 11. The uber brief mention just summarizes the plot and notes the DVD "will contain bonus materials and extra features, such as deleted scenes and feature commentary."

Hopefully it will contain director David Mackenzie's commentary, but I remain dubious any of the features/extras will be anything new ie not hopeful there will be new interviews conducted for the disc, but I do remain hopeful that there will be some of the fantastic stuff that 4C Slater/All things uploaded via their Youtube channel.

Most of all, I had really really wanted a hard copy of Colin Kennedy's fantastic documentary/behind the scenes features he worked on. I know that many are looking for info new clips here in the US and if you have not yet had the chance, or just want to watch again and dont have them on your iPod or MP3 player anymore, please go to iTunes and watch the Hallam Foe podcasts HERE. You can see-FOR FREE-many behind the scenes glimpses especially of Jamie and Sophia. I know many of their fansites also (and hte Ciaran Hinds folks do as well) have these uploaded as well as screencaps, so please go check them out! You can read more about the filming of Mister Hallam Foe via the well done GET YOUR PEOPLE BLOG here.

It should be noted that on the Magnolia Website it reads DVD release date Nov 4, but maybe that is the NetFlix date or who the heck knows. I pre-ordered mine from Amazon and Im getting it the 11th of November - a red letter day to say the least! (I think I will call it the Mister Foe Marathon day, when I watch the movie over and over along with all the various clips/interviews I can find!) The film also continues to screen in a very few theaters now and esp thru the entire month of Nov here in the States.

Mister Foe stars Jamie Bell, Sophia Myles, Ciaran Hinds, Claire Forlani, Jamie Sives, Ewan Bremner and was directed by David Mackenzie. Mister Hallam Foe is a SIGMA FILMS PRODUCTION
